The 2021-22 school year is nearly over!
Due to missed instructional days this winter, the school calendar has been amended to ensure compliance with WV Code 18-5-45, which requires all schools in West Virginia to provide 180 separate days of instruction each school year.
If no additional days are missed for the remainder of the year, the last day for students in grades K - 12 will be Friday, May 27, 2022; students in PK will have their last day of school on Thursday, May 19, 2022.
On Friday, May 27, students will also be released two hours early so that the final Faculty Senate meeting of the year can be held on the same day.
Thanks to "accrued instructional time" - an added 30 minutes for each school day easily accomplished with Roane County's existing bus schedules - only two of the seven instructional days missed due to inclement weather this winter will need to be made up. Going to Friday, May 27, represents an extension of only two days from originally planned last day of school, with students still getting out before Memorial Day.
Staff will continue to work into June to complete their contracts as originally scheduled.
