At its regular meeting on Thursday, December 15, 2022, the Roane County Board of Education adopted its school calendar for the upcoming 2023-24 school year.
The adopted calendar has the same breaks and holidays as in past years, and given the partnership with Jackson County Schools through Roane Jackson Technical Center, attempts to match the calendar adopted by the Jackson County Board of Education earlier in November 2022. With the exception of the Black Walnut Festival weekend, a day in Decmeber,Presidents Day, and the last day of school for students, the two calendars are in sync.
The first day for students in 2023-24 will be Wednesday, August 23. The last day for students, as long as there are not an excessive number of days missed to snow or other issues, will be Friday, May 24.
