Immunizations

West Virginia Code 16-3-4 requires all students who enroll in any school - public or private, in-person or virtual - to show proof of specific immunizations prior to enrolling and attending school.

West Virginia law does not allow ANY non-medical exemption to these immunizations. Medical exemptions must be submitted by the student's primary care provider to the state Bureau of Public Health's Immunization Officer. More information is provided at the state Office of Epidemiology and Prevention Services.

Additionally, provisional enrollment allowances are only available after the initial dose of each series is received, if at all. In other words, students may not attend school under any circumstances without at least the initial dose of each series and / or a medical exemption approved by the state Bureau of Public Health.
