As part of our continued commitment to student safety and awareness, Roane County High School will be partnering with Roane General Hospital and Roane County Emergency Services to conduct a Mock DUI (Driving Under the Influence) Drill on:
📅 Friday, April 17th
⏰ 9:00 A.M.
This educational event is designed to demonstrate the very real and serious consequences of impaired and distracted driving. The simulation will involve students, school staff, and local emergency responders in a realistic scenario to help reinforce safe decision-making.
🚑 Please Note:
If you see emergency vehicles on or responding to the Roane County High School campus during this time, there is no cause for concern. They are participating in this planned training exercise.
Thank you for your continued support as we work together to keep our students safe and informed.

Luckily, our team is here to help our students find all the solutions.
The Roane County Numeracy Team is back together to talk about everyone's favorite subject, MATH!"
Today’s session is focused on elevating math instruction across the district and mapping out engaging professional learning opportunities for our educators this summer.
We are especially excited to have Emily Donathan from the WVDE joining us. Having a state numeracy specialist in the room helps us stay ahead of the curve and ensure our elementary students are getting the absolute best in mathematical education.
With representatives from every elementary school in the county working together, we’re making sure the future for our students adds up to something amazing!

Events will be held at each location from 4:45-5:30PM on the following dates:
Walton Elementary
Tuesday, April 7
Spencer Elementary
Wednesday, April 8
Geary Elementary
Thursday, April 9
Come out and learn more about our afterschool enrichment programs! We can't wait to see you.

We also witnessed a thrilling exhibition race between 3rd graders Ethan Howard and Waylon Proctor. It was a nail-biter, but Waylon Proctor took the checkered flag in a very close race! 🏁
This Title I STEAM event was a huge success for our students and families. We’re already shifting gears to start planning for next year!

We are blown away by the incredible turnout for our STEAM Family Engagement Day. There is nothing quite like seeing science, technology, and engineering come to life in the hands of our students.

At a recent Roane County Schools Board of Education meeting, the 2025–2026 school calendar was updated due to the number of weather-related school closures this winter.
As a result, the following dates have been changed to instructional days: March 16, March 17, March 18, March 19, April 17, June 1, and June 2.
Roane County Schools has submitted a waiver request to the West Virginia State Superintendent in accordance with WV Code 18-5-45. This waiver is available because of the Governor’s State of Emergency declared January 26–30, 2026.
If the waiver is approved, the district may be able to reduce the number of required instructional days. Until a decision is made, we must move forward with the current instructional calendar.
We will share an update with families and staff as soon as we receive notification about whether the waiver has been approved or denied.

Please contact the Board Office at 304-927-6400 to schedule an appointment!
