Our 8th grade students will be visiting the Roane Jackson Technical Center on Tuesday, April 18th from 8:20-11:45. They will be introduced to the curriculum that is offered there. Then from 4:00-6:00 students with the last name A-L will finalize student's freshman year course requests. On Thursday, April 20th from 4:00-6:00 the students with the last name M-Z will finalize student's freshman year course requests.

Spencer Middle School will be offering a Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser and a Family Math Night. It will take place on Monday, April 24th at 4:30-6:30 in the SMS cafeteria. Tickets are 10 dollars for adults and 5 dollars for children. The menu will be Spaghetti, Garden Salad, Garlic Bread, Drink and Dessert. Your students will be bringing home the ticket for you to purchase. Please help us with this fundraiser and come out and enjoy the activities and games. Spencer Middle School would like to invite all students and families to join us for our Reading Fair and Literacy Night on Tuesday, March 7th, from 5:00-6:30 in the SMS playroom. We will have Public viewing of the reading fair projects, Bingo for Books, Dr. Seuss "Guesstimation" and the awards will be at 6:15 PM. Please plan to come out and enjoy the evening with us.

Roane County Schools is currently soliciting bids for grass mowing and trimming at its school and operational campuses for the 2023 calendar year. More details can be found in the linked bid advertisement.

Hello Spencer Middle School Families, tomorrow Monday,February 6th is Blue and Gold Day at school. All students and staff are asked to wear yellow jacket clothing or blue and gold to support our winter sport teams wrestling, girls basketball and boys basketball. A little late posting but these are the April Students of the Month for Spencer Middle School. 8th Grade Lillian Blosser; 7th Grade Tanner Saunders; 6th Grade Wade Rhodes; 5th grade Landon Williams. Congratulations!
Spencer Middle School staff members would like to congratulate Becky Hildreth as the Service Person of the Year for the 2021-22 school year.

These three eighth grades will represent Roane County and Spencer Middle School on June 14th when they become a Lady and Knights of the Golden Horseshoe. The Golden Horseshoe began in 1931 and recognizes the top-scoring students in WV History in each county. Their WV History teacher is Christopher Blosser. Representing SMS will be Lexi Mitchell, Gabriel Gainer and Joshua Gorby, Jr.
Who would like a cup and help out the National Junior Honor Society? NJHS will be selling tickets for a drawing on April 28th. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5. Students may see Miss Harper to purchase their tickets. Any one else interested in helping out the NJHS can stop by SMS during regular school hours to purchase their tickets!
It's a Blue and Gold Dance!
On May 17th, the NJHS will be holding the Blue & Gold Dance for 7th and 8th graders only. The dance will be held from 5-6:30. This dance will be semi-formal. Students may wear dresses and other semi-formal wear, but it MUST follow the school dress code. Also, since the dance is being held from 5-6:30, students will not be permitted to stay afterschool for the dance, unless they are at PATCH. More information about this will be sent home in May.

Another school calendar reminder -- Kindergarten students will NOT attend school in-person tomorrow (Friday 4/15) so that our K teams can welcome next year's Kindergarteners for registration.
All other students will be released two hours early for Faculty Senate.
