During school on March 19th, students will attend a volleyball game in school if they meet the PBIS Behavior Requirements. Students must have less than 3 detention halls, No afterschool detention, and No In-School or Out-of-School Suspension.

Hello GEMS Families: The Appalachian Vision Outreach Program with WVU Eye Clinic will be holding free, comprehensive eye exams at Walton Elementary Middle School on February 27th 2026, available to all students of Roane County. This program provides our students with eyeglasses at a greatly reduced price of $25, payable at the time of the exam. If your child does not need glasses, the money will be returned to you. If your student requires assistance with this fee, please contact the school so arrangements can be made. If a permission form came home with your child and you wish for them to participate, please return forms to the school by February 20th. If you did not receive a form and you would like for your child to have an eye exam, please contact GEMS school today or tomorrow for a permission form to come home with your student.

Parents/Guardians of Middle School Students: On Monday, November 17th, middle school students will ride the bus to Spencer Middle School, enjoy breakfast, and kick off the morning with fun games and activities alongside students from the other county middle schools. After that, everyone will head to Roane County High School to enjoy a live play performance. Once the play wraps up, students and staff will return to SMS for lunch and an afternoon filled with more activities.

Middle School Students will board buses 13 and 49 at Geary at 7:20 on Monday to be transported to Spencer. Students who are normally dropped off will need to be on the sidewalk and ready to board by 7:20. Students will be in Spencer for the entire day and will board buses Monday afternoon to be transported home. Student will not need to bring any materials or backpacks with them.

Geary Families: Wednesday, November 12th, we will be having our 6th Grade Beginning Band Promotion Concert. Parents of our 6th Grade band members are invited to hear them play during band class at 2:00 p.m. in the music room before they are promoted into the larger, advanced band.

Hello Geary families! This coming Monday, November 10th, we will be having our Veteran's Day Concert. Doors open at 12:15 and the performance starts at 12:30. Please have your child dress in red, white, and blue. Additionally, all Veterans are invited to attend and enjoy the performance.

Good evening, Geary has two announcements: First Announcement: Middle School Parents: On Friday, May 16 at 6 pm, we will be having our athletic sports banquet. If your child participated in middle school sports this year, please come out and celebrate their success. If you plan to attend, please send your form back in, so that we can get an accurate number for food. Second Announcement: All Parents: The PAC (Parent Advisory Committee) will be held on Monday, May 19, 2025 @ 2:30. We will be discussing plans for next year and reviewing our Family Engagement Policy.

Good Evening, This is a reminder that students will be taking the West Virginia Summative Assessment and the iReady Diagnostic beginning tomorrow and going through the 16th. Please make sure your child gets plenty of rest. We are excited to see how much progress they have made through out this year! Results will be posted today for students who auditioned for the talent show and will be performing on May 22nd. They will be receiving a permission slip to stay after school for rehearsal, information for late bus or pick up, expectations for rehearsals, and a rehearsal schedule. Geary School has one announcement. Thursday, May 1st at 3:00 pm in the cafeteria will be our middle school ensembles concert. If any parents are unable to attend, the students may ride the late bus home. Performance dress for the concert will be for the boys: solid color collard shirt, nice pants with no holes, for girls: solid color nice top, nice pants with no holes. We hope to see you there!
